From Yoga Mat to Forest Path
Hello, and welcome!
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the next chapter in my journey as a yoga instructor and lover of the great outdoors. Recently, I became a certified forest bathing guide—which feels like a natural progression in my practice and teaching.
As a yoga instructor, I’ve always found deep joy in helping others connect with themselves—body, mind, and spirit. Yoga teaches us to slow down, be present, and listen to what our inner selves truly need. For me, that sense of presence has always been amplified when I’m outdoors. Whether I’m practicing yoga in a local park, hiking or trail running along a sunlit trail, or simply sitting still to listen to birdsong, nature has always been my sanctuary.
Why Forest Bathing?
Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is a practice that originated in Japan. It’s not about hiking or exercising—it’s about intentionally immersing yourself in nature and mindfully engaging your senses. You breathe deeply, take in the earthy scents of the forest, feel the textures of bark or moss, listen to the whisper of the wind, and let the stillness of nature calm your busy mind.
It’s a practice that resonates deeply with me. Forest bathing offers a perfect complement to yoga, encouraging us to move off the mat and fully into the natural world. Both practices emphasize mindfulness, grounding, and the healing power of connection—whether that’s connection with ourselves, others, or the environment around us.
Building Community Through Nature
One of my greatest joys as a yoga instructor has been building a community of like-minded individuals who value wellness, connection, and self-discovery. Becoming a certified forest bathing guide feels like a continuation of that mission. It’s an opportunity to take what we’ve cultivated together in the studio and bring it into nature, where we can deepen our connection not only with ourselves but also with the earth.
I envision offering guided forest bathing walks and outdoor yoga sessions where we can slow down, breathe, and experience the profound peace that nature has to offer. These events will be about more than personal growth—they’ll be about creating shared experiences and fostering a sense of belonging in the beauty of the outdoors.
What’s Next?
In the coming weeks, I’ll be launching a series of guided forest bathing sessions and outdoor yoga offerings. These offerings will be open to everyone—whether you’re a seasoned yogi or someone simply looking for a way to reconnect with nature and yourself.
If you’re curious about forest bathing, I’d love for you to join me on this journey. Together, we’ll explore how slowing down and tuning into nature can transform not only our health but also our perspective on life.
Thank you for being a part of my journey. Whether we’re on the mat, under the trees, or somewhere in between, I can’t wait to share this new adventure with you.
In gratitude and connection,
Kristin
